Hello there. Posting this since i've come across a little bit of an impasse.

the dressings/armour on this character are all separate objects and i would like to keep them that way. however, i'm coming up against a little bit of a situation when it comes to rigging them up. i was wondering if i could bounce some ideas off y'all to maybe glean some tips and such.

firstly, i've already tried using the Skinwrap modifier for the soft body objects, but that kinda ended up with poor results. undesirable crushing and crashing and it really destroyed the illusion. so, that's out.

i was thinking, would you think that it'd be practical to rig up an actual rig with bones and such constrained along a line? (much like how i've got the tail and spine done) with control points that will allow for tweaking in the case of extreme poses and one top control object to allow for easy parenting onto the main body.

now, i'm asking this mostly because i'm unsure and though i would love to experiment, i would like to get some feedback as to how y'all would approach this.

to repeat, i understand that i may have painted myself into a corner, but i know that this is solvable somehow. wether i have to rig up the soft body parts into the skin modifier to sit on top of the rigging for the main body is something that i've also considered.

so, to repeat... any ideas as to how you would attack this dillemma? are some of the ideas i've already presented the more feasible ones? discuss please!

using 3DS MAX 8

(*yes, the texturing is still WIP... kinda bouncing back and forth between the different tasks here*)
