I'm going to do a lot more with this, for instance there will be a character peeking its head around one of those trees, but here it is:

I'd love some feedback, thanks...

Your environment looks awesome. Really good job on that. One thing in particular though: Are those water droplets on the stand? I couldn't really tell. If they are then I would recommend adding some condensation to the glass. That will make it look cold, and tie it into the stand...

That's my only crit. This really looks good.

Hey, thanks.. I've actually tried a few different methods for adding condensation on the glass.. and either a) I dont think the results look right, or b) it takes a day and a half to render. I used a few scripts for mass duplication with noise, and then used a mass constrain script to force a hundred or less bubbles to the surface fo the glass, but this method made the render times unbearable.

anyone done condensation before? I'd love some advice.

Hey? How about some comments?

hmm comments.... beer is good.

Ok ok, not what you were looking for. Well, you could add a few more trees in the background, there's sort of an abrubt end to the forest going on there, which looks odd. It should have a little more depth.

Also a little variation in the trees would be beneficial. They're too uniform right now, something nature isn't known for. Some moss or holes in a couple of the trees might do the trick.

Can't help you out with the condensation of the glass, but I can help you out with the beer. :p Actually, it just needs more depth. So, maybe if you made the edges of the beer lighter than the middle, it would give it a nice transparency effect, as if light was coming throught the sides (where it's less dense) more than the middle. Try a falloff map for that... or see what you can do.

Good luck!

mmm.. beer.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I think your right about the depth of the forest, I just didnt want to keep duplicating the same tree, so like you said, im going to throw in some variation and extend the forest. I see what your saying about the transparency on the edges of the beer, and I like the idea, so I think I'll try it out, and you can tell me if the results look like you were thinking.

Anyone think that adding my character peeking around one of the trees, looking towards the beer as if it were dying to grab it, would add to this scene? I was also thinking about adding some techy looking stuff imbedded in the trees nearest to the beer ( kind of like camera survielance, as if this pint of beer is sacred/ valueable ).

beer looks fake, the rest is a little believeable.

What about the beer looks fake "secretasianman?" ? Is it the glass or the liquid itself? The beer doesnt look like guinness?

I think I need to turn down the reflectance on the glass, but from the distance of the camera you cant pick up on any real texture details as far as the liquid goes, I think that suggestion about transparency might help make the beer look more believable. Anyone done guinness before and gotten a result they liked? Can you post it?
