View Full Version : XSI User Interface Keyboard key:
TCPortfolio 02-06-2008, 08:12 PM I'm fairly new to XSI, especially the version that I have now. I learned on Avid 3D, which is really Softimage/XSI 1.0. Now I have upgraded to 4.0, and obviously the interface is much more complex. I was wondering if anyone has made a key for all the default mapped keys on the keyboard for the XSI application. If you do, please share it with me, because I'm trying to learn this new interface so I can really start to do some cool 3D modeling.
Also, if anyone has any tips to an XSI newcomer, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Trey

Avid 3D 4.0? Confused
Anyways, As for XSI, Keyboard Mapping -> View In Browser generates a HTML Page showing all the keymappings.

I have one, to read and use the deceivingly titled sticky post called "XSI newcomers corner" ;)
btw avid 3d has got nothing to do with xsi1, it was based on either 4.2 or 5 when it came out (don't remember), and it moved on with versions. The difference to xsi is the stripped down set of functionalities, but versioning has got nothing to do with it.
Read the forum sticky posts and use the search engine, browse old threads etc, and you will have a pretty good headstart.

I'd also suggest the XSI Basics Guide: http://softimage.wiki.avid.com/index.php/XSI_Basics_Guide
It's written for version 6.x but a lot of the basic workflows have not changed so you should be able to apply much of it to earlier versions.
EDIT: Also I'm pretty sure that all or most of these tutorial videos were written for v4: http://www.vast.ws/resources/xsi/tutorials/tutorials.html
