View Full Version : fbx export error
Bucket 02-06-2008, 04:56 PM I'm just trying to move some objects with there textures still attached. I'm exporting as an fbx and I'm getting an error about 65% of the way through.

Hi,
Could you able to solve this problem? I also have the same problem and cannot export anything as .fbx format. On the other hand, the "import fbx" works fine..
Weird..
Thanks

What version of xsi?
Make sure you look to see what object you're error happens on.
Here's an piece from one of my previous posts...
Without knowing what app the .fbx came from and the settings used to export it, it's hard to say. IMHO, Import/export is the single most annoying process associated with Motionbuilder. It's an art unto itself.
GEO: It's very probable the geo's issue(s) could be coming from an object that wasn't 'frozen'/'collapsed'/had its 'non-deformer history deleted' /'whatever that is in c4d' at the time of export. Sometimes, a difference of scale can be to blame. The version of the .fbx plugin that's being used in the source app might need to be checked OR you may need to use the 'FBX Converter'.
TEXTURES: Double check that you have the textures for the scene either in a folder with ".fbm" at the end of it or in the folder with the .fbx file. Then check your navigator to see if they're showing up in the scene. You maaaay need to re-apply them.
I used to get a similar sounding error in 5.11 when I didn't freeze the geo. Also, I vaguely remember multiple UV clusters being the source of some issues. Usually, I have some prep-work to do to get things into an app correctly via .fbx.
