i thought i said i was trying to learn about noise...
seems you've been abusing noise! heh heh.
i like it...now you just have to use that on some model...
give it to janine for her alien thingy mouth and muscles...will suit it!!!

I'm guessing that the creation of this thing was accompanied by a loud noise. :surprised

Bump = Sema x normal noise in a fusion,possibly within a distorter ??

Actually its pretty simple as far as the recipe goes. Its ONE SLA noise shader (no fusion at all) used in several channels.
Can you guess which one? ;)
And for some reason I feel the urge to upload a file to Kotayus's site....

Looks good :)

Yeah--I originally started out trying to create the surface of an ovum/egg---but it wound up looking more like a Gigeresque rock formation.
The one above was supposed to be a worm creature-thingy, but J111's assessment is much more accurate. :p

Sema {with fingers crossed} :D .......reason I say sema is because of the S shaped extrusions.Hmm hang on Sema would not create the varied extrusions like that I dont think {thats why I said fusion originally} ,ok I am going with Sema anyway because my head hurts now from thinking about it :scream:
Guessing noise shaders is really good practise
Ya upload if it you feel thats cool Joel :)
Stu.
The new one is the Florescent Dinosaur Poopy noise shader {cool pic}
Stu.
I dunno it looks to me like you put the shader in the Displacement Illumination channel as well as the noise channel... Ive never seen a bump map make theat much variation in size alone, so thats the only reasonable thing I can think of.
JoelOtron
04-30-2003, 03:28 AM
Nope, not sema--though its a good guess.
Theres definitely a displacement map in there as well as a bump, , color and diffuse map.
Color, bump and displacement have the same shader. The mesh required a high subdivision and its dropped into amn HN object.
Heres another shot:
ewwwww... you lined them up :shame:

You know, as I'm workin on this stuff I I'm thinking, "cool rock formations", then, as I look at the images here in this thread, I think "what the hell am I doing?"
Sorry for grossing everyone out! :scream:
ohhh let me guess I bet its hama, that or cranial.

When I was in college my room mate and I won a turkey from the grocery. Before we cooked it I stuck a camera inside it-hey I was an art student-and took a picture. It was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen. I still ate the Turkey many hours later. Anyway this kind of looks like the inside of a turkey. Yuk!

For those interested, I used ZADA in the color, bump and displacement channels. I used a very high subdivision on the mesh and a HN object.

Joel, i PM'd you the new link...sadly i think someone that saw that link deleted all of the data in that directory. Although im not sure, there was like 8 matierial files there yesterday and today the whole directory was deleted...and im the only one with access to it...so im thinking there was a file present that shouldnt have been.

Thanks, D.C., but it wasnt talent so much as it was looking at the screen and asking myself, , hmmmm--what happens when i do THIS? Believe me, I had no idea it would wind up looking that, but you learn something new everyday!

Hey, yes, I'm very weird, but I'm only responsible for the first 3 images. The credit for this last onegoes to Cinema1954--though I guess I'm responsible for setting him down the dark path.
I'd like to go on record that I only had the best intentions when creating the images, but apparently SLA has an evil force of some kind lurking throughout its programming code--bending the renders to its twisted will.
EDIT--beat me to it I see, Brucie on the image credit :)
Another reason to buy cinema, easy simulation of
1, human feces
2, easy simulation of alien chicken eggs.
3 easy simulation of vomit.(just add some carrots and make it liquid and your their).

Now if someone says our modeling and texturing tools are crap we can say,
"I know man ain't it great".
How about a make a realistic looking turd competition?,it will be a bit of humor.....winner gets to share their recipe :D ....whaddaya think?
