Here is my last work. Photorealistic body builder modelling. This is very useful for increase modelling ability.

I used 3dsMax 5.0 . Photoshop for textures.

I added simple anim. This is simple motion test anim. Very early motion test. Far from perfect. Enjoy:

I like how you modeled in the fact that he got into body building to compensate for other... "shortcomings".
Very realistic to build in that much back-story to a character.
;)
Great job!
Can we look forward to an animated pose-off? If you rigged this up with some animated displacement on muscles, it could be mind-blowing.
Cheers,
b

Well this is too weird! When I originally posted the above comment I was being sarcastic. The "bald-headed black guy" I was referring to was actually an ad being posted by Geocities since your link was down. I didn't realize your work was really a bald-headed black guy! Freaky!:surprised

Excellent modeling by the way!

This is simply a stunning work.

I followed your work from cgbug.com earlier.

One thing I don't like is how -his- right eyebrow is lit (or shaded). You may need to tweak the base color , diffuse, or spec, I really don't have a clue. The left eyebrow is very good compared to the one on -his- right.

I didn't read all posts but I know there is a small animation of this guy. Maybe you can post the link to that.

Keep it up!

I was just hoping it wouldnt come to this. That is just sick.
I can only look at that for so long before I get sick. How were you able to keep going? Granted it is an amazing model but damn.
What you need to do is setup the whole body as a dynamic softbody and have him go from fat to pose. LOL. Anyways I can't wait to see some other work as long as its not bodybuilders.

Great job.

amazing work. My only (and i mean ONLY) crit would be his right eyebrow? it seems to stand out way too much, could stand to be darkened a bit. Otherwise though, incredible work. Like i said before if a lot of y'all collaborated on a project i think you could turn out some amazing short movies

genesis max

Excelent! Simply amazing! Photorealistic!
But now, the critics:
His knee looks weird, and his hand is too shiny, because bodybuilders put oil only on body and not on hands.
Model is good, butwhat make this picture photorealistic is texture job, simply amazing.
His head looks like Rony Coleman but I think you should work a bit more on similarity. Other than that amazing!

While I agree he needs to add a rim light to separate the character from the background more, I would have to disagree with you and robin by saying it's "bad lighting" it's truly spectacular minus that one but important light.

Great render!

Were you going for 100% real or just as close as possible? I use a Percentage system myself based on the end usage of my model and the time I want/have to spend modeling the subject. 50% to 100% rule. And oh, my modeling ability.

Did you do this freestyle modeling or use the background guides? Mastering freestyle photoreal 3d modeling is my goal.

Hey some of us want to type without looking at the keys!

Great modeling man....is it modelled in that pose though???
I noticed that you actually modeled the creases in the stomach muscles. Great job though!!!! the only thing that I would add to it is a contrast from the chest and body skin to the nipples:)

The nipples need to be a bit darker.
great job on the modeling and textures:buttrock:

It's work like yours that makes what we do worth fighting so
hard to learn.

AMAZING work, I can't even express myself to the expression
it deserves.

Will you do a "detailing" tutorial at some point? I know there
are a lot of tutorials out there on the net, but I am sure you
have a lot to say - and a lot of good hinters to give.

Looking forward to see more of your breathtaking work,

It's far from photoreal but is an excellent model!

The good:

-Awesome modeling and attention to detail
-The bump mapping

The bad:

-The skintone is monotonous all over the body including the face, also it's greenish and not very lively looking
-The lighting
-The face doesn't seem to have the same attention to detail as the body

Holy cow! That is very photorealistic... It took me a little while to see that it was really a render.

Although I agree with some of the people here that the skin is a llittle monotonous and he could use a rim light. But I still think it's a very realistic model. Allmost too realistic for my tastes but that's very subjective. Great work!

Have to agree that at the moment, it looks too modelled to the frozen pose, and that a rim light would be helpful, some rear and 3/4 views might be nice too, as would the feet. That said, it's one hell of an impressive piece of modelling.. what's the face count on this??? :)

Ok, just kidding... you're da bomb man. Absolute Stahlberg-ish! Only that it's no chick :) Two thumbs up!

Do you have any intentions to animate that marvel of a character? I imagine that will be even more demanding... all this muscle-mass that screams for physically correct dynamics :)

Keep on flexing some CGI-muscle, Graf!!!

Very well done, man! :)
Can I ask if you are a bodybuilder yourself? The reason I ask is because you really have the feeling/proportions/lines and stuff down beautifully. I can understand this.. because I was a competitive bodybuilder myself, in my younger days.. and its really a neat feeling to understand how the muslces and structure of the body feel from both the inside and the outside, that is to say, to study the body in such detail from the perspectives of both a bodybuilder and an artist. Anyways.. that rocks!

I never liked photo-realistic style too much, but it is indeed usefull for getting better. Excellent model, but I dislike the texture. It seems almost paper-like.

wow great !

This worth a global illum rendering with a white material... just to see better your work, this would be great, it's a bit dark here.

The texturing is great too.

Your work here is THE BEST that I've ever seen, bar none! As a nooby I'm begging for some insight into your modeling technique. How long did it take? Was it box modelled? What was the poly count? May we see it under default lighting? I could ask questions all day, but right now I'm too Shocked to think. PLEASE GIVE US A TUTORIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all C&C:)

This model was made about one week. (modelling and texturing)

This is a Box modelling. But I did not use half side modelling and symmetry. This model is a single part. Because you know human or other organical bodies is not symmetrical. This way is slower but more realistic. In my opinion symetrical models to look less realistic.

Other important thing is bump mapping for this model. Because all of realism in here. I used different operation for veins. Big veins is modelling, smal veins is bump mapping. I didnt use any spesific material features. This is a standard diffuse, bump and specular mapping. Thats all:)

I used only two standard light for scene. No GI, or other photometric light. This is very standard lighting. But I know this lightning is not sufficient and I must work more...

Thx again:beer:

very good, really does look like a body builder. fantastic texture work.

the only problem I have with it is the face. The face doesn't fit, it looks too plastic compared to the rest of the body. I think it is in the texture work there. Because it's not the facial expression.

Same with the animation test, his face looks a little static for the duration. and the arm flex is a little quick.

otherwise really fantastic.
