I've always been somewhat facinated by asian culture so I had to pick the Grand Buddha at Ling Shan. Originally I wanted to take this piece a little bit further but I am happy with the end product. I wanted to bring it to life but with a somewhat stylized look. I didnt really strive for edgeflow on this piece as it being a statue would probably not have to move much, plus sometimes its way more fun to sculpt

Welcome to the latest round of the HCR Modeling mini challenge.

I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the quality of the outstanding models that have been produced.

So please take a moment and VOTE for your favorite piece.

You may read the rules of the mini challenge here:
HCR MINI-Challenge #12: Colossus (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=208&t=566519)

Anyway, lets get on with the voting!

Please vote for :

Most Faithful to originalNEW!
Best Environment
Best WIP thread
Best Topology
Most Expressive Model
To vote, just post a REPLY to this thread with selections for each category.
NOTE TO ALL VOTERS: The principal judging criteria to all voters should be
how well the model was sculpted. The beauty render & the shading should not be the most important judging factors for the Best Overall Entry.
(Note Bump and Normal maps are acceptable modeling methods)

Following are all participants eligible for voting and their entries:

Cory Cosper (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4928235&postcount=2)
Ismael Berkani (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4928236&postcount=3)
Erik Söderlund (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4928237&postcount=4)

Harsh Borah (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=4928251&postcount=6)
Next week I will tally the results and I'll anounce the winner.

Good luck to all our participants.

The thing I find a little weird is the smile on Lord Shivas Face. He is the God of destruction, why would be smile? Maybe a smirk would be appropriate.

awesome stuff.
Hey Robert, just a suggestion on the voting thing. It'd be great if there was a easier way to vote. Like maybe a poll or something. I think it might be easier on the users to take a look at the models and just click on them to vote.
=) Great stuff everyone! And congratz to the winner!
