View Full Version : Computer memory question?
I just installed 8 gigs of ddr2 6400 memory on my pc wich is running
XP 64 bit and its only reading 7.93 gigs.
Is this normal?
should it be reading all 8 gigs?
Thanks!

How much is the POST reading?
Some of your ram may not be available to the OS itself, and be used for video stuff.
thanks for your help!
uhhh what do you mean by "post"?
Thanks!

Post is the screen you get just as your computer boots.
Whats giving you the memory count of 7.93? Check in the bios whats plugged in.
Perhaps try swapping out RAM modules to see which one is coming in under spec.
