View Full Version : Truthful Websites for Comp Parts?
rgbman 04-29-2003, 02:53 PM I was wondering if anyone had and good websites that would give tips on what to buy in order to get a great 3d machine for the cheapest possible price. Not so much where to buy it or a search for parts, but something that actually takes comp parts for the sake of 3d and gives ideas for building a computer.
Thanks for your help.

Do a search on the forum for past posts on system and parts reviews. The problem with a website is that it has to be general. It can't tell you what parts exactly you should get because products change each month. But there are plenty of posts in here of explainations of what setups work best.
I know Greg and Zaondude have their own pages with hardware reviews and stuff on them.

I've always found cnet.com a pretty reliable source for information. Their sheer volume of competative reviews, i think prevents the sizable abuse of hardware over-rating on some websites. But please correct me if I'm wrong. I like cnet.com overall... they even have C|Net Tech TV... now that is coool. ^.~

Also try tomshardware.com and anandtech.com. Neither caters to 3D per se, but they have a lot of good info.

Thanks for the information and help and these do offer good information. This just means that someone now needs to make a site like those except dedicated to the 3d audience.

you don't want tomshardware.com. as you'll read from past posts that most here don't like tom's.
www.motherboards.org is a good site. they're a bit slow with reviews on the component side, but they offer great indepth reviews of motherboards.

yeah definitly stay away from tomshardware, if you want to know why just search this forum for tomshardware and you will find out why.
