View Full Version : Modeling a skippy-ball road: how to deform?

Hi there,

I have a question about how I should approach this project since I'm not into deformers etc.:

My client wants a road, made of skippy-balls with their logo on it. The 'virtual' road is curved and goes up and down. The camera will eventually follow an object on this virtual road. How in terms of modeling can I approach this?

I think that I should make one big straight road with all the balls, and then in some way attach it to a curve, where I want the road to deform according to the curve. Important is that there has to be history on it, so that the client can change the curvature, length, etc.

All suggestions are welcome (using Maya 2008).

you could bind the bridge to some joint and use a IK spline handle with it.
