I created a rectangle and gave it a stroke outline. I made the inside black so i could use the screen option to make it see thru. Now i want to cut it out for web use but when i get rid of all the bakgrnds it turns back black.

Is there a way to fix this?

Word found it :arteest:

Didn't know that I could change the settings for an "existing" shape layer by clicking on the shape/rectangle Tool. Was in the styles box.

Check out "fill opacity" in the layer blending options. There's also a slider for it in the layers palette under the layer opacity slider. You can use it to make your black rectangle completely transparent, while keeping all the effects like stroke completely opaque. That way you can use any blend mode and the rectangle will remain transparent.
