so some friends convinced me to put some of my stuff up here on the ole chopping block of computer animation to see what everyone has to say about it. Some of you may remember yemyam's spida chick (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23967) he did a while back. Well here is what will be her nest. This has been part of a group project, and we've spend about three weeks working on this. I'll show some of the early renders first, beginning with the beginnings of a cryogenic tube that will come out of the wall....

next is the tube mounted on the wall...

then came a control panel for the tube

ok so I'm going to post up a little smaller now...try to conserve the bandwith...

next is three tubes on the wall. The room is oval shaped, with three tubes on one side, then three on the opposite side...

now we've got the tubes in place, and most of the floor done. The floor is actually a sub-floor. There will be a grated floor above all those wires and stuff. Most likely we'll do that with an opacity map to cut down on the already geometry-heavy environment...

Very nice design and modeling so far. Lighting is going to make or break this complicated scene. Can't wait to see it!

Thanks. The task of lighting has been given to another member of my team. I know he's going to do some pretty awesome stuff with it, I'm just concerned with render time. We plan on using a LOT of volumetrics.

Everything looks pretty complicated. All except for that control panel. But, you already knew about that anyway. Can't wait to see your progress. Good luck to you.

Here's another shot. I've got to go in and fix some faceting issues with some of the pipes. I think I'm going to turn down the lights a bit, maybe change up the color also. Next is texturing....

darkened the lights a bit. Fetus sacks are awesome

Everything looks so soft and smooth...needs some bump maps, grease, scratches and other faults...
Plus I would lose those purple and green lights....they seem too disco~ish...
Other than that I'm lovin the details on the modeling!

I think you should reconsider the light colors. This scene holds a great deal of promise if the lighting is done right. Keep us posted!

Textures are almost done. Still needs some tweaking. Next up: lighting...
