change the resolution of the texture display in the materials illumination area, or on the basic tab for the material in the am.
alternatively you can load it directly into the viewport as a backdrop if you go to viewport options, then it will load in at full resolution no matter what size.
There are workarounds, but realisitcally you probibly are not gonna get photoshop level Refrences, unless you render outevery pic that it.
THe reason being that photo shop has to "do" less with the image there is no lighting/shadows.
and you arenot constantly changing rotations and scales, either.

the images look exactly like they are in photoshop in LW...
ohh well its not something i worry about much really.
I mean its not gonna be perfect so what? your not just tracing by the numbers. so the refrence will only help you so much.

like i said load them into the viewports as backdrops, they will look *exactly* like they do in photoshop if you do so. right now you've loaded them in as textures on a plane that's a different thing.
as far as textures are concerned, if you want to bring up the texture resolution you can do (to higher than even lightwave can handle) just follow my instructions.
so remember viewport backdrops
From the viewports own menu :
Edit->Configure
then set the backdrop from within there. it will look exactly the photoshop backdrop... no matter what resolution.
for textures, as i said, in the material dialog, in the illumination tab, se the texture display resolution up to 2048*2048. or if you're using the attributes manager go to tbe basic tab for that amterial and set it there.

I prefer using planes instead of backdrops. They look perfectly here, even at a quite low-res as 512*512.

Call me stupid, but I don't have both these options (R8.0) :surprised.

update to 8.1, R8 doens't have em. I'm curious, why didn't you update so far?
sebek if you have access to photoshop or illustator or any program that has vector support then you can trace your blueprints and export the traced lines...then merge these into c4d for a spline based blue print....
i'll see if i can dig up a image for refrence................
http://cgi.third-era.com/~chi/splineblueprint.jpg
ahhh there we go
with this method you can zoom in indefinatley and never lose quality of your blueprint its a+ quality

thanks Chi ! i just need to figure out how to do this in Illustrator the easy way so I don't have to draw over it all..
i pretty sure that illustrator has a trace function but your better off doing them free hand...is way you have ultimate control over everyline...and after a bit of practice you can set these up in about an hour....
