Heyos!

I was working on the noob to pro tutorial, and got to my 'first quickie render', and I just used the basic scene from the ctrl+X, and rendered.

As it rendered, it worked fine, but then for some reason when it was complete, that window was full of just blackness.. I closed out, tried again.. did this a few times, and with a couple other objects to see if it was that scene for a reason (Also checked the lights and camera...)

Nothing worked, every time it would be a black window after the completed render.

However, for some reason I moved the window after the render was completed, and all of a sudden the render showed. THis is a consistant problem, for every render I have to move the window for it to show after the render process is complete.

I tried changing the threads to match my processor, so set it to 4 threads, but then it just rendered faster ansd THEN went to black..so same problem..

Any idea what's going on?

This seems to happen with some video cards(mainly ATI/AMD?) if you hit 'J' twice it should pop up for you, though i dont know of any easy way to fix this minus a hardware change.

i've got a GEForce 8600 from XFX, paired with my intel quad cor 2.4 GHz cpu...oh well, the extra effort is fine I suppose ^_^

Strange on my 8800 it doesn't do that, though when i was running an ATI x1900 I'd get the same thing occurring. Are you running 2.45 or a different build?

yep, 2.45

Using the aforementioned XFX GeFroce 8600GT
a quad core cpu (2.4GHz) Overclocked to 2.9
a Gigabyte P35-DS3R (If I remember the numbers correctly..)
and 2 gigs of DDR2

And everything else I've ever thrown at it seems to run fine, and it renders plenty fast.. just that one little odd thing lol

just to be sure:

Check if the "Do Composite" button is off. Scene menu [F10] >> Anim panel.
