This was a Rhino model rendered in grey-scale. I was going to make (and I'm still in the middle of making...this isn't finished) a bump map for an OBJ of my model so I could render it in Poser, when I got the idea to just make a painting instead. Not sure of how my PC would handle all the color layers after converting the 22MB grey-scale file, I decided to go low res for my color test. I'm sorry I did because the result (in my opinion) kicks BUTT! I'll now go finish the bump map and re paint this bad boy in a high res format. Comments welcome.

Oh...it's Alex Ross' take on the Hulk, if you couldn't guess. I gave him a bit of a hair cut though...

Looking at it...I think maybe I should soften the lip crease a bit, huh?

Hey teyon! Nice hulk here...I kind like the hard line on the lip..The coloring is really nice...perhapes thinner bump lines around the eyes..Looking really good...I hope we get to see more!!!

Teyon, following you here. You know that I admire your skills. If this is a painting, instead of going to be used as part of your texture map, believe that indications of more directional lighting would give the image a more 3 dimensional aspect. In my humble opinion, it is just a bit flat as is and not as dramatic or intense as believe it could become. Believe however that you know what affect you wish to present, so mention this as just something to consider.

Good Point! Thanks. I'll try rendering a grey shot with various light setups and test out the process on those.

very cool
i think the lip crease is fine the way it is, but i would put a crease under the bottom lip for his chin

Wow, so cool! Why not try adding some more shine on his ears, lips, and cheek area.

The changes made have added greatly to the image. If i can suggest... the gloss on the lower right neck region and especially under the jaw line seems a bit excessive, i have the impression that this is supposed to represent perspiration, but instead of lying on the "skin" appears on my monitor to be of one horizontal level and not follow the contours of the skin. And should be a minimal sheen where it is in the darkest shadow under the jaw.
The dimensionality is coming together, but the outer folds of the ear, still seems compressed down to me.
Just an opinion offered and could be based on differences in the way our respective monitors are set up.
But each version of this work i have seen has shown great improvements... best to you.

Thanks buddy. I'll look a bit closer on my next revision and see if I can adjust what you've pointed out.

Thanks! Have to add some shadow to the interior of it though...I think that will give it more depth.

I got to the point where I had to call it finished. It was a learning experience for sure and while I didn't achieve everything I wanted with it, I now have the begining of a new skill under my belt. Thanks for all your help while trying to perfect the image!

Oh, and I was referring more to the creature itself than the idea of the house on it's back. ;)

Sorry to cross post but to all of you who helped me with the wip, here's the FINAL (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60327)
