Hello guys, we're at it again, please give a special thanks to hristophe Desse a.k.a "xtrm3d" and Daniel.. www.dbgfx.com, for supplying their top quality models to our growing community.

http://www.3dfestival.com/story.php?story_id=1115

Unfortunately due to the files sizes of this set, we can only provide the .lwo and .obj formats. All respective 3D software applications have the ability to import .obj files without any problems. Sorry if there's any inconvience.

Be sure to spread the word!

This is another hot set!

enjoy

Just thinking... shouldn't there be some license agreement for the use of these objects? Is anything stopping anyone from using them for commercial work, or have I missed something?

It's copyrighted by him just producing it. If it's not your work, you need expressed written concent. It does not have to be stated. So in other words, you're in deep shit if you use it for commercial game. It's just the same if you see an image on a website and decide that you want to use it as the cover of your book or for you product.

why not download the OBJs and import them into XSI?

speaking of downloading the OBJs and importing them into, in this case Houdini....
has anyone had this problem?:
obj_holes (http://www.arctor.com/houdini/obj_holes.jpg)

any suggestions?

and thanks very much for the very fine models :)

edit -
they seem to import into Maya just fine > then out to Houdini without any issues...but strange though....:surprised

what is so bad about that. they are free you know and are ment so you can do something called learning from them. you know see how the are built and such. and they also serve as good subject for test renders when you are a bad modeler and you are a texture dude or lighting dude or your writing a cool new shader. whatever you can think of just as long as it doesnt come out to the public without permision.

anyways why are u complaining. THEYRE FREE. and they can be imported to all the same programs as before. it is not like are already textured or anything.

by they way. I havnt completed the download yet but from the pic of em all they look pretty awsome. and is it just me or are there more models in each newer package or something.
and what do I do if I want to submitt my models to be givven away. sounds like fun.

thanks for teh answer man :-) i would not describe it in a better way :-)

just enjoy them .. for you personal project or for learning purpose please :-) or may be even for character animation show reel.. cause i know most of them dont want to bother with modelling :-)

but in any case .. dont forget to mention that they are my work :-)

merci beaucoup

Wow. A great set of models!

The .obj files (opened in a text editor) suggest that there are .mtl files available, too.

My 3D prog imports these textures (.mtl files), too. Any chance of getting them?

As for holes in mesh (see another person's post above.) Some lines wrap over the end and have a '/' mark at the end of the line. I don't know about others, but I had to fix that before it imported into Art of Illusion (artofillusion.org).

Cheerio, and THANKS AGAIN!

Well I have other sets, but they're large! In comparison with that last sets we have. I have to think about bandwith here ;)

I'll give you all some numbers

The 1st set was downloaded over 52000 times!
The 2nd set was downloaded over 39000 times!
The 3rd set was downloaded over 29000 times!
The 4th set was downloaded over 23000 times!
The 5th set was downloaded over 24000 times!

so times each one by say 5 megs respectively. Yeah that's a crapload of bandwith ;)

Now with this set it totaled 72megs all formats. XSI's zip alone was 20 megs. Now times 20megs to 20000+ :surprised

exactly! not to mention the others ;) We do have to pay for bandwith ya know :p

enjoy the.obj files :)
