Title: Moon daughter
Name: rose espadaler
Country: Espaņa
Software: Photoshop

I've always wanted to draw a witch but I wanted to do something different, not the typical medieval or sexy witch. At the end I mixed a bit of pirate accessories with hippie and squatter clothes and...voila!
I drew it by hand and painted it with Photoshop using some flourish brushes and adding some textures so it would seem more palpable.

It looks really nice Rose. I like a lot the pirate details you put in the image. What I donīt see clearly is where the light comes from, if it comes from the moon, the face and the part of the image that is looking at us should be darker, and if it has a second light, it could be softer, but itīs just an opinion.

Anyway congrats and great work

YAY! Thanks for the score. ;)
Truth is when I envisioned the witch I wasn't sure about how would I draw her surroundings and being as thrilled as I was to paint her I didn't give much thought to them. At the end I focused too much on the witch and painted a background more eye-catching rather than realistic. That's why the lights and shadows don't really work out.

Hiya Frenzie! Thanks!
I love anything related to art, although I'm now very focused in working on different types of characters. See, the witch is a bit manga style, but I also like flash cartoon style, roundish like Disney or with textures like collage. I'm trying to find a personal style but I like so many different styles that is hard to decide on one. :D
By the way, do you draw comics or do you animate them too with flash? Because they've got potential!

I'll usually sketch out my comic by hand-and-pencil first to get a general quick idea. Then I'll re-draw it using Adobe Illustrator. I have used Flash and like it, but it's been a few years since I used it. Flash is awesome, but I already had Illustrator. I don't animate much (but did a lot when I had Flash... in college), mainly because it take so much time. I work two jobs and also freelance, so I have little freetime. One day when I become independently wealthy I'll animate more. :D

I've finally updated the image. There are a few changes. I just tried to correct the witch's position, add her and the broom a light glow to give them a magic air and retouch a bit the moon and clouds. Hope you like it.

Nice, looks great!

crit:
I think her pants are just a little bit too dark now. They don't quite match the rest of her clothes. Otherwise the changes look very good.
