View Full Version : Maintaining Symmetry while editing UVs
Kokosing 01-31-2008, 12:16 PM Is there a command to mirror changes to one side of UV mesh to the other? I just want to tweak the UV vertices on one side of my face model and have the other side follow. Is this possible?
Thanks,
W

I have used uvtoobject and mirror point position plugins. Edit than update the uvw and copy the uvw tag to original mesh.

No, there's no active symmetry tool. What you can do is mirror one side, make changes to both at once, and then mirror back when you're done.

Thanks, Adam. That makes sense.

[*Shameless plug below]
My Undertow plugin (http://skinprops.com/undertow.php) helps automate this process to some extent. It adds multiple commands/tools (more than a dozen) to help with many UV-mapping tasks, which you can see in the documentation (http://skinprops.com/undertow/index.htm). There's a free trial version in my download area (http://skinprops.com/download.php) (some functionality is disabled).
Here's some additional info on the UV Symmetry (http://skinprops.com/ext/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?73) command.
Cheers,
Keith
