View Full Version : Choosing random text from a text file...

Hi, I'm trying to build an expression to achieve the following:

A five letter word is chosen at random from a text list and is displayed for 25 frames. Then a new word is randomly chosen from the list and displayed for 25 frames. This repeats indefinitely.

The words can be 2d (so they could just be textures on a plane.)

There are nearly 100 words in the list, so I'd like to avoid creating a unique object for each word.

I thought of using Mograph's multishader, but I wasn't sure how to make the shader switch input channels at the right moment.

Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. And I like getting my hands dirty in Xpresso.

Many thanks,

Will

Does it really has to be done in Cinema? I know it could be easly be done in After Effects. It's a preset that random picks word out of list.... You could export it to a tiff sequence. I don't know it comes standard with AE or with an AE plugin ( i'm not at the studio right now...)

No, there's no reason to do it in Cinema. I don't use After Effects. But if it's a plugin I could probably use it in Final Cut Pro.

Is it called Text Anarchy?

Thanks,

Check POP BUZZ WORDS I think that's what you are looking for. I don't know the way to do this in FCP.
