I was wondering if anybody hear has ever used Credo Interactive's Lif Forms for animating? If, so, how is it and how does it interact with Cinema?

I have it since c4d R6 times, I used it on a lot of jobs to play with Mocap data.
It is a well functioning, stable app with a horrible User-inetrface (the worst I have EVER seen and worked with).
Strength are the ease and speed working with Mocap data.
Weaknesses is basically the User Ineteface which makes it a pain. And nowadays it seems outdated, with todays machines speed is relative and you would expect LF to have better Graphics (and much better interface).
It plugs nicely into c4d, you can either export to bvh(place an bone at end of every chain to not loose your orientatio HBP ind c4d) or as 3ds file containing Motion-data (better because you get the reduced keys over, bvh has akey for every frame) or Lightwave.
Import of models can be done through dxf, 3ds etc---
works well if you Zero out the model (curse c4d for not having a function for that ;-))

Nowadays i would not advise you to get it, I would rather give you the advice to get MOTIONBUILDER from Kaydara.
It is far superior, sensationally cheap and has a LOVELY interface.
And you can do everything and a lot more you could in LF.

I couldn't find much in the way of tutorials for Life Forms. Are there just not any except the ones on Credo-Interactives website?

LF has a manual that says it all-- i dunno if its online though.

my advice: dont waste your time with LF.
This is a seriously outdated piece of software.

I just keep it on my HD in case i have to open & convert bvh or other mocap---
not that I really have used it since i have Motionbuilder--

Agree with Olli. I used Lifeforms before, but it feels very outdated next Motionbuilder.

I don't think the manual is online. They do have a 20 day demo version, which may contain a pdf manual, and there are tutorials to try it out quickly.

I agree with the others I have it for quick easy preview and mixing of BVH data for poser-Carrara pro.
but for C4D you should look at motionbuilder, much more up to date
