I personally loved it.
Great work, and great presentation. A lot of the technical minded people have no design sense, so this is refreshing to look at.

Only crit: the contact frame at the end has a mistake. "Software" has no plural form.

I noticed your older reel was all in 3ds max. How are you enjoying XSI from a rigging perspective compared to max?

Also any way we can have a quicktime version to download? I like to keep reels that inspire me.

Amazing, inspiring reel. I love it especially as an XSI artist. The most entertaining rig was the pig, it awesome!

Nice one! Good to use CustomDisplays. I found the Pig's facials very impressive. Good examples of animation too.

Great looking reel. Nice to see PEN Attribute Holder on the 2006 reel as well.

That was fantastic. I really hope I could do something like that one day.

Hi everybody,
glad to see that you enjoy my work :)
Sorry for the "software" mistake. I'm confused. In fact i'm a french guy (now living in London) and my english is not yet optimal.
I will correct this mistake as soon as possible.

Make rig in max and XSI is not so different... The principle is the same.
But personally i found that XSI is nicer and offer more freedom (even if we can do the exact same things by different paths). Plus, scripting in J-Script is a little more comfortable than Max Script.

My website have a little bug so the quicktime download is not yet available, but it will be soon. Keep an eye on it :)

Pen Attribute Holder is an awesome tool, necessary for anybody who want to rig in max... Nice job Paul!

Thanks again for your comments. Keep an eye on the website, i plan to add a scripting reel and some Maya rigs.

C'est un excellent reel! J'aime beaucoup l'expressions du cochon et la flexibilité de cette facial rig. Donc pourquoi vous préfère J-Script au lieu du MAXscript? Excusé moi pour le mauvais francais :P.

Hi Jason,
nice french ;)
You asked me why i prefer to use J-Script rather than Max Script...
It's just my personal opinion and feeling. For me the J-Script syntax is clearer, constructions are more understandable...
But i confess that my Max Script knowledges are limited.

Nice work! Good presentation too. I especially liked the control over the pig's mouth, and the way the octopus tentacles smoothly flowed after the rotation at the very end. I'm a Maya guy, so it's probably different in Maya, but how did you accomplish that flowing tentacle movement? I can think of a few ways to approach it, script/expression or locked length curve or soft body or something, but I'd be interested to see how you tackled it.

My only suggestion would be to maybe show some more realistic rigs in addition to these
exaggerated characters. Maybe something with more muscle bulging and such. I'm just building up my first rigging reel now though, so perhaps that's not necessary if you're only focusing on cartoon-ish stuff. Any thoughts on that?

Also, you could show a little more of the smooth tentacle flow at the end of the real. It's really nice and it's a shame that it flashes on there so briefly!

Just checked out the older one from '06, and that's great too! I especially like the fish.
