Very strange thing.
Make a box, default settings 1m.
Make a texture in photoshop with the letter X or something else and put it into the color and the bump channel.
Clone the box 1 time.
Now turn box 1 around on heading 180 or 360 degrees on 60 or more frames, box 2 add a bone and turn that bone around the same way as you turned box 1.
Sit back and watch the difference between the 2 bumps.

It is like lw is like lw is projecting the bump in a wrong way on the box rotated by the bone.
Bug or what ?

The overall normals are right (else you'd have seen what looked like the distant light source rotating) but the bump perturbance process isn't. Perhaps there;s a simple compensation for the bone effect which is being countered out?

I Did your trick but with bank over 60 frames and rendered out an animation. While the geometry's lighting is static, the bump acts like the lights are rotating.
