Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone's usuing DeckLink video capture cards, namely the DeckLink Pro, with AfterEffects on Mac for D1 work. If anyone, can you kindly share some of your experiences with these cards, plus some info on your RAID system.

Many Thanks,

I've heard nothing but good things about them. In fact, as I start to plan out my upcoming video editing rig, that very card is at the heart of my lineup. Awesome features, stunning price.

You'll find all the answers I imagine you could want at CreativeCow's BlackMagic Design forum:

As for RAID, I'm holding out for the new PowerMac models, which apparently promise to intergrate Serial ATA into their motherboard architecture. Then it'll be a simple matter of putting some of the new Maxtor SATA drives in an array. Reviews demonstrate the resulting speeds give even SCSI a good arse-kicking, and the prices, temperatures and spindel speeds are all significantly lower than your usual video editing storage solutions.

Hope that all helps!

Thanks for the info on Creative Cow. I've been posting some over there, and I got a good deal of info. I wanted to ask you, if you think buying a new mac, might be a better -and cheaper- solution than perhaps an RTR array from Medea?
