How can I constrain an object to always be "x" units away from a null? I have some planes around a sphere I'd like to keep a specific distance away from the surface (they are Target tagged to face the null in the center of the sphere)

Howdy,

My CD Constraints plugin has a CD Distance Constraint specifically designed to do this. ;)

Adios,

cinema's built in clamp shader does this too.

Where can I find the clamp shader?

wowo that was a brain fart and a half, replace shader with constraint:/

The Clamp constraint can do this. Right click on the object you wish to constraint and under character choose constraint. In the clamp tab the default is origin In the target slot drop in the object you wish to constraint to and your finished it should set the current distance automatically.
