View Full Version : problems with keyboard
unrealwarfare 04-28-2003, 04:39 PM my keyboard is pretty new. sometimes, no matter how hard i press the keys, i can't type anything up. i cleaned the dirt that was under the keys, but its still clogging up on me some of the time. i want to open it up and clean the circuit board with alcohol... is that a good idea? or should i just buy a new keyboard. the only reason i have some thoughts about not buying a new one is that this one was pretty expensive... and its hard to let go.... and plus.... totally new good ones aren't cheap.

so the keys are actually getting stuck in the keyboard after pressing them? I would check to make sure the metal contact die is still working. You might have a faulty keyboard. Go get a replacement.

Is it still under warranty? As singularity suggested, try getting a replacement.

LOL.... its an idea you could consider... but its definately not the case... lol.
they are not getting stuck. its like regular typing... only when you actually press the keys, nothing comes out.... so after smashing the same key like 6-7 times... the letter pops up. basically, the key is being pressed but nothing happens. but they definately dont get stuck in the keyboard. i dunno. the warranty is gone... it was for 6 months... my keyboard is 8 months old.
P.S. porn??? umm... what porn... i dont.... have... porn...

in that case, i think you have faulty contact dies underneath the keys. Pop the key off ur keyboard and u'll find the mounting brackets of the key and underneath that bracket in the very center is a metal contact die that completes a circuit when u press the key to the die ... or something that works along that principle. And if u have a poorly manufactured keyboard, you have keys that do not complete correctly leaving you with no effect when u press. Go get another keyboard.
Oh yeah, my pet peeve is people getting wireless mice and keyboard.... makes no sense to me since the only way u can get comfortable with either of the two devices is if u run your computer off a big screen TV, in which case you only get like 760 x 480 resolution @ best or something.... they're heavy, expensive, and a pain to maintain with batteries and junk. Stick w/ ur classic wired stuff.... low power consumption, light, and easily replaceable if u spill something.

A simpler solution is to return it. I would get another model too.
