Just a simple question...

May I run MAYA 4 or 4.5 in this machine?
PIII 800 Mhz - 256 Mb RAM
16Mb Voodoo3 Card
and Windows 2000 professional OS.

Yes or no?
Why?

Thanks a lot guys

256 MB ram > you definitely need more as soon as you start doing something more than just spheres.

vodoo3 > if that one still works like the older vodoo cards you only can have full screen 3d acceleration.. so i would say:

NO

(get a little more ram and a geforce 2 card and it will run ok)

Yes but your Voodoo Gphx card my not be powerful enough.

I run on a similar system with a better gphx card (Geforce2).

alexx altho i could do with more ram 256 for me has been satisfactory in even quite complex scenes.

As for the ram. 256MB is the minimum required to run Maya, but i'm quite sure it's good for a start. Some time ago i was running Maya on a machine with 192MB wich is BELOW minimum system requirements acording to A|W. ;)

EDIT: I'm not saying it was rock-stable, but it was running :p

:)

i did not say it wont run with 256 MB..
i only wanted to point out, that this is maybe sub-optimal :)

cheers

The lack of ram will really start to cause problems once you are ready to start texturing and doing test renders.
