Ive recently upgraded to Max5 and I realize there are a loooooot of lights objects.
Maybe somebody can help me with info about photometric lighting and how to use it (experience!!!) because max help is a little "theoric" and finally, I can't understand much...

make sure you model everything to scale if you want to use radiosity and photmetric lights.
plus you can download proper lights from erco, these have all the real world values and the correct distribution settings. they conform to i-drop so you can drag them off the site straight into your max.
i use photometrics all the time for architecture so feel free to ask anything.

What do you mean modeling to scale? I need to adjust the model to some special units?

phometric lights work to scale.
say your modelling a car, it needs to be 1 to 1, or a chair, it needs to be the correct size. set your units up to cm or inches and measure what your modelling.
