View Full Version : Character: Virtuella 1.0 (Futuristic 3D Cybergirl)
Markuss 04-28-2003, 12:21 PM I've almost finished my female 3D model (something I started on last year), Im still refining and tuning the model, but here is a picture I rendered with the character.
I've cropped the picture to "widescreen" because I think that was nicer, but originally it was supposed to be A4 format as a cover illustration for a norwegian Computer-magazine.
I was a inspired a bit by Benedict Campbell if anyone has seen his pictures, and also a bit by Hajime Soryama. I tried to achieve the same kind of "shiny/airbrushed/raytraced" look to the image, since this was a for a computer mag. Maybe a little "retro-ish"?
It's a little touched up in photoshop post rendering to get the glows and more saturated colours.
Anyway what do you think?
Here is a link to the pic in A4-format (resized to 72 dpi):click here (http://home.no/markuss/virtuella_a4-crop.jpg)
Here is a high res version, 1600x1200 if anyone's interested: click here (http://home.no/markuss/wallpaper_1600x1200.jpg)

Nice modelling. Maybe a little bit too reflective. Looks like an imac. :scream:

I love the lighting and moddeling, although i think here feet are a little bit to big :hmm:

Yep, looks very much like a Hajime Sorayama picture. This is a nice piece of art - the face does look a little flat though and maybe there should be more noticable joints to her?
Good work overall :applause:

Thanks for your reply's! I know the face looks a little "dead" though. I haven't created any morph targets or facial expressions on her yet. I hope to do that at a later stage.
The feet might look a little big because of the camera-angle (perspective), though I'm not totally sure (?). Take a look at the rendering below. This is a rendering of the model (without the suit) in the default pose. What do you think of the proportions, anatomy etc..? (I know the spine looks a little to "sharp" on the third picture. Will try to fix it later...)
Here's another link to a hirez version as well:

Congrats Markus, the feeling of the piece is great!!
I really like all aspect of this image - modelling, surfacing, lighting and pose of the girl too:thumbsup:
If I would crit something I would loose the white reflection on her left breast, its quite disturbing (at first I though its some kind of hole in the suit). Another thing is girlīs face its guite unnatural, I would higher glosiness and lesser her make up (have you tried to paint her with blueish tones? It could add more consistency to the character.)
Anyway, its great work, man!!
Concerning the girl model itself (second img), I must say the top part is great but her legs are a bit funny :surprised The problem is in the shilouette - especially tighs are a bit off.
Check this link for plenty of photos of nice girlsīlegs :p

Nice. Bet that's nice and slow on the render time. I like the chick, kinda remindes me of the T-1000
Good job.

Thanks, yes it did take a while to render with the raytrace materials and the high resolution. The original was about 2500 x 3500 pixels in size.
I have had a couple of comments on the pose, the face, the lighting etc.. and I think I'll try to make a new version very soon.
Thanks for your feedback guys! :)

Wow - surprised no-one has rated this one yet....there ya go! You get the next star for the little tweaks that you've got to do. Once again, excellent pic!

I finally got an update ready on this one. Hope you like it! I got a lot of tips and ideas after I posted the first one. I have tried to pose her in a more relaxed pose, and now she looks like she's actually doing something. I also fixed the reflections a little bit. The only thing missing now is pherhaps some high heeled platform shoes, but I haven't had time to make that. That is one of the reasons i like the cropped version better...
Here's another hires version 1600 x 1200

I love this mage!
You did a great job in incorporating the famous style of Hajime Soryama. One remark that I want to contribute (like it has been said before) is that the expression in her face could slightly be enhanced. You are almost there... Try to give her the sexy look that Hajime always did. In your case: e.g. Let her look at the camera with her head slightly tilted down while looking from underneath her eye-brows. A little squinting of the eyes (especially with 1) could aslo add something.
This image should be put in a magazine (it was supposed to right?).

Nice job. But the reflections are somewhat aliased at places, the monitor stand for instance. Sorry for nitpicking but why not go for perfection when you're so close?

everything is too shiney. i hate to say this but it almost looks noobish. the clean render of her looks great though.

Awesome! Everithing it's fantastic  . except her face.... i don't know what it is...
maybe....the head looks better if you paint it black as the body. :buttrock:

My advice would be that close her eyes a bit, they look unnaturally stary (if thats a word...). When sheīs looking down to the monitor, her upper eyelids would close a bit. Thatīd make a lot on her expression.
very cool,
reminds me of a early cg robot women animation late 80's i think, had the same ear bits. MAN i remember those things!

WOW!!! The new render looks REALY good!
I think the reflections and render look awesome.
She looks a bit over concentrated though. There's something about those eyes. Maybe her eyes shouldn't be that wide open?
Anyways! Fantastic work! KEEP IT UP!
