... a realistic Elephant using Maya 4.5 or 5.0. See http://www.lostpencil.com for more details.
Buy the CD sets individually, or save and purchase the entire set on DVD-ROM. Introductory pricing in effect until the end of May 2, 2003. You can see the result model and animated elephant here:

The "UV Mapping and Texturing CD Set": does it go over uv mapping the whole character in Maya, then painting the textures in Photoshop?
I'm asking because the description is the same as the Rigging Set. Mistake?

Hey Folks!
CIM: ooops... fixed the page. Yes, the UV Mapping goes through the entire process of unwrapping the elephant mesh into a paintable UV map. Then I show how to create a good foundation for the base texture and then show some tips on using photoshop to get the texture done.
wgreenlee1: Thanks!

Hi binary_trips,
I have a training CD for games for Lightwave, but not Maya (yet...). Otherwise, nothing that I'm aware of. You may want to check out the Maya tutorials sticky - lots of good stuff there.

Hey Paul
Your new Maya training videos collection look great. I am very much interested, but I have a couple of questions before I make my final decision:
1-I'm running Maya 4.5 on MacOSX, can I play the videos using quicktime player or do I have to download Windows Media Player?
2-What pixel size and format are the videos in?
Thanks for taking the time. I'm looking forward to getting the DVDs.

Hey Dario!
Thanks! The compression on the video is MPG1, so Quicktime will do the trick (I've tested it on MacOSX and Mac OS 9.2). The size of the video is 800x600 and you can check out a screen shot of the size and quality at:

(the link is at the bottom left)
Hope that helps!

are you using nurbs or polies for the elephant?

Thanks Ali! Hope you enjoy it!
Randuin, it's all polygons. Low poly cage is being driven by the skeleton and the cage in turn drives the smooth poly version. The UV Map transfers from the low poly to the high poly kinda nicely!

Hey Folks,
Here's something along the lines of this thread, but a little bit different:

ps. Make sure you don't assume it's the same walk cycle as the one that comes with the training material :)

Is the 3D Apprenticeship Training Series for Maya now shipping?
If they are, has anybody received them and can tell us what they think of them??
Thanks.

Hey Roger! It started shipping on the 29th, so it will be a couple of days yet before people receive their copies. I haven't had a chance to put up samples of the material, but the style is similar to the Animator's Gym training material (of which there are some samples on our site).
Hi Dario! He is silly, isn't he... total contrast to his lumbering walk. Thanks for your order and have fun with it!
