HEY! COOL!
I'm really liking that texture so far. I agree with you that it could use some dirt and scratches....maybe some chipped paint in parts...but I'm worried it'll ruin the cartoony/prefect feel of the texture that's already there...whatever, it's yours, so have fun with it.
The shiney glass on the cockpit looks really out of place with that texture though.

deeeeam,- you have texturing DOWN, I wouldn`t mess with it. I like the clean look ALOT.
and in terms of the model, the only think I don`t like are the toes, and the missles on the back- , I`d change the missles to cannons, and for the toes I don`t know, maybe make em shorter so that come a just a little short of poking out from under thier coverings. and make them taller.
but I dunno that might look dumb, but you should give it a shot

the texture kicks ass, i wouldnt do the dirt and scratches untill u have finished it all, then maybe make another texture with dirt by modifying it, the clean is awsome, the model kicks ass.. but..
(psshhh, how long did it took u to do that texture so far.. id take me foking 2 days. )

Cheshire,
I'd be interested in knowing exactly how you are setting up the uv maps for this model. It looks as though you have a few of the template texture images already in place. How did you create these? Just curious. I'm using max5.1 and uv mapping is a breeze there. In 4 it was a bear. I used ChiliSkinner and Texporter to help there. Thanks.

just some doubts on the design:
_i guess this model is going to be animated right?
maybe you'll have some problems when it comes to have to turn on site, as the legs seem fit just to walk ahead.
_another thing is that the feet look quite small, so that the mech would fall on a side when walking :annoyed:
very cool textures

THanks guys!
Confracto: I kinda like the glass, but im not sure the game engine will be able to do it like this anyways, but ty. Its meant to be a mix of real and stylised cartoonish, if you can understand what i mean. :O
Konstruct: Ive tried numerous things with teh feet while tryin to keep the count low. I compromised with these. Missles stay as this is meant to be game bound, and more guns would not do.
Metal Me: ty, ive got about 3 hours into the texture so far. Im still pondering how dirty i wanna get.
JF: TY
AC: UV's are don on 1 1024 map, and i did it it Max 4. Im skinnin it in 2048 fro now though, and resize when done. Resize seems to go well when the textures target is to be 1024, so no worries. I also us Textporter.
Da: yes, the cockpit is to turn 45 degrees from left to right and up and down, which works. As for Legs it will turn alot like the Mechwarrior Mechs, as any 2 legged mechs turn. I have no alternate plan. :P Feet are not as small as they look. THey are quite bird like. 2 shorter toes in front, and one long one in back. The center of balance seems to look right from the profile. Ill try and post some renders when i get more time.

Good Mech design is hard to pull off. Lots of wannabes try it and fail. I -really- dig this Mech.
It's probably more stylish than practical, but in visual media, I think it should be style before substance... er go... a mech that looks good is more impressive to me than a mech that could actually be built and operate.

Can't afford what?!?!?! Its a job! Heheheh. Last time I checked, they give you money to do this stuff. :p
And you definitely have the skills to be making good money with someone. It'd crush me if you decide to keep your skills confined to only a past time, my friend. Go snag a great job, fer christ's sake!:buttrock: You have the gift, don't waste it!!

Cheshire,
I understand your predicament. I'm not a parent - which is probably your greatest challenge, especially doing it alone - but I also have a shit job that pays well (American Airlines). I am, however, actively persuing work in the game development industry and I'm going to leave my current job to do something I love, finally. Its no longer about the money, its about doing something with my life. I'm finally in a position financially and otherwise (mustering the courage) to bail from the comforts of a cush job to which I sold my soul and take a job that lets me use my God-given talent, where its appreciated...err, assuming I have some talent. I guess I'll know when I finally get an interview.:p
Keep it up, though, you have LOADS of talent.
Btw, ummm....a BF1942 screenie? How does that relate to your mech? And what's unique about the shot? Sorry, a bit confused.
Stay safe, bro and hang tough.

LOL, look in their hands. Its my gun. And it relates to the mech because the Mech is goin in there too. :)
American Airlines eh? Hehe well im pretty much in the same boat, though i wont even mention where i work, as they are a bunch of ass'. :P
