Title: Seiko 'Samurai' divers watch
Name: simon danaher
Country: United Kingdom
Software: CINEMA 4D, Photoshop

This was posted in the WIP forum but I've submitted it here because I think its finished work now.

I had a very clear look in mind for this product shot: very high contrast, sharp and zingy but with restrained lighting. Ended up pumping the black in Photoshop to get the final look, but its pretty much what I wanted. The shading on the top of the bezel sill bothers me though.

Polygon/Sub-d modelled from the actual watch (not a photo, though I used other studio shots of real watches to help judge the lighting, see the WIP thread for pics) and rendered with Cinema's standard raytracer.

Thanks guys.

Vickyjazz: Yeah, I deliberated over the reflection on the crystal, it was commented on in WIP too - on ballance I think it's right as it is. Although its a 'realistic' rener its also highly styalized aethetically. Also as a product shot you don't really want to have a reflection obscuring the face of a watch, so its in there so that you can see the crystal but its restrained so it doesn't interfere.

In case anyone is interested here's the wire:

Nice work you have there. I too think that the reflection on the glass could be a tad better, if that would take away from the actual thing IRL would be ok I think. Also the lighting is a bit too artificial here IMO. But a nice atmosphere. Good work.

OK, for those that think there sould be more reflection on the crystal here's an update.

I still think more reflection is too distracting but there you go.
