Hi Vali, Well I watched your film :) First of all, congratulations on completing an 11 minute short on your own! That's quite an accomplishment.
Here's my critique:
Things I enjoyed:
-Overall very clean, detailed rendering
-Space battle was nicely choreographed
-The character designs were overall anesthetically pleasing
-The environments were very well done
-Good camera work
-I really liked the space-station/spaceship designs
-Very nice VFX overall
Things I felt could be improved:
-Characters very slooooow moving...not really many emotive gestures (the chick looks like she's in a coma half the time...just staring off into space)
-Story didn't read very well overall...like, I got the main plot points I think (bad guys attack...girl holds energy source around her neck....bad guy wants energy source)...but the girl didn't put forth much of a struggle...the bad guy, instead of just taking the thing from her at the end, bows before her and asks for it.....that didn't make sense in the context that he just destroyed her city
-The bad guy (in the one shot where he's walking away from the camera, through a doorway) has some foot-sliding going on
-Animation overall was very floaty, and the characters didn't really seem in touch with the events going on
-Although poignant, I'm not sure I entirely understood why the city froze over at the end etc....the bad guy had the power to destroy the entire city and take it over....yet didn't know that the city would freeze if he took the power source? Seems a little too forced.
Anyways....an enjoyable view overall :D...and it was very nice to watch at the high resolution provided. I'm giving it 4 very well-deserved stars. I'd have given it 5 if the character animation were a little more lively.
You are right of course. Character animation is not my strength. It has cost me too much time. But after such a long time period i finitely wanted to complete it ;)
Thank you very much!
Cheers,
Vali

whoa, a lot of that was really incredible.
I completely understand your feelings about finishing this project (which must have taken an absurd amount of your time), but I feel that if you went over the film with one more pass on the characters and the character animation, this would be perfect. However, as I said, I know how you feel, and I would certainly be glad to call it done.
Amazing effort dude. No doubt your next film will be even more incredible.
hi vali,
may i ask what your first short film project was ?
as i said before, i like your film very much.
Thank you!
Yes, my first short movie was "Redemption" (2005). It's also a science-fiction-movie about the end of a world. You can download this animation here (http://www.hdm-stuttgart.de/%7Evs016/redemption/Download/redemption_englisch_divx.avi). More information at http://redemption.valisoft.com
