What format are you capturing to? Make sure you are not using any strange CoDecs like Xvid, DivX or whatever. AE will gladly import other standardized formats like DV/ HDV and most "normal" Quicktime and AVI CoDecs. Conversion is no issue, as long as you use uncompressed formats. AE will uncompress your footage and blow it up to full RGB anyways.

its "mpeg movie"
when i select import file, the "show all supported files" doesnt show it. i select show all files and find the files i need, but then i get message "file ... cannon be imported. files of type .mpg are not supported".
what should i do? if i capture to other format it ruins quality (tho i was able to import file then)

Get VirtualDub and encode into another codec or even better uncompressed.

What do you use for capturing anyway?

Virtual dub doesnt allow to add theese files either :\ says something about no frames or something. its on other pc so i cannot check at the moment, but the thing is i cant add them to virtual dub.
i use soft i get with tv-tuner. aver media it is called i believe.

Most likely it's some MPEG-II or MPEG-4 derivative contained in the wrapper for the format. I wouzld think that the software itself provides options to convert it to an AVI or something. Short of that, try SUPER©. It pretty much swallows every of those formats.

thx. SUPER solved the problem, tho ae still doesnt show the file in supported files list, but it can be added.
