Dude, let me get this straight...you wrote the story, you did the 3D stuff, you did the 2D classical animation stuff, you did the live action footage, AND you did the music?!?! Let me know of all the job offers you DON'T take. I'd be happy to cover for you!

The whole thing is awesome! Love the music! It's nice to see a storyline, and a cool twisted one at that!

Keep up the amazing work!!!

btw I didn't see a website address, so do you do websites? (I'm afraid to ask)

It's a mess, haven't touched it in months, so sorry for the appearance. Vancouver Film School sorta took up a fair chunk of my days over the last year.

that's so wicked. Love the part where you have 2d, 3D, and live action all living together. And the strange thing is, it all makes sense!

had to show it to my girlfriend. She loves the mouse!

I think you really nailed the whole silent /black & white film thing. The whole groove really works. I'm looking forward to the sequel...oh, wait...everyone died. Guess that's why you never saw Shakespear Part II's.

hi, still trying to get to the breakdowns, as well as hi rez.

In the meantime, here's the software:

A/W Maya 4.5 (mouse, buildings, cloth sim, etc.)
Adobe After Effects 5.5 (compositing, minor animation(clock, etc.)
Adobe Photoshop 7 ( bg plate cleanups, newspaper, photos, etc.)
Softimage Toonz ( 2D inking/painting)
Softimage XSI (initial mouse models, animatics)
Pencil and Paper (classical animation)

oh, and -
Sonar digital multitrack (orchestral arrangements)

Nice work, and there is a very differen't flow to it than most reels.

There seems to be a bit of a problem with the pan after the world becomes "toon" and where the charecters walk into the sunset.

Again nice work!

Yeah, I think that happened during the compression. I checked the original and it's smooooth as silk, but I see what you're saying (I think) A wee bit jerky, yes?

Thanks for the observation!

Yes, there seems to be a bit of a jerk in the pan. I am glad that it dosn't exist in the original. If you re-compress it you might want to try increasing the keyframes (depending on the codec you are using) that might help get rid of it.

PS. For some reason this reminds me quite a bit of Roger Rabbit not quite shure why though maby the toon-human world......

gotta agree. a real fine piece of work. Definitely fits in with the subtitle of this site: Digital Visual Effects Professionals. Seems like alot of folk model up a single character and call it a visual effects piece. I guess we all have different opinions of what what vfx is!

That's sublime! Short as it is, you projected a whole lot of meaning into it, every scene is just bursting with meaning. The success of the mouse, the dedication of the artist till the end, the wonderful union of the artist and the creation...

I feel so emotional now......*sob sob*

hey, krebber.

Any bites in the job market? I see that you're sort of a one stop shop, someone who can cover everything pretty darn good. I would imagine that most of the smaller shops are looking for someone like that. It's what I hope to get into.

good luck!

Thanks, all. The piece was sort of a challenge to myself to get 2d, 3d, and live action on-screen all at once, and somehow make sense of it all. I find everything just too damn interesting! Compositing, lighting, 3D..oh my!
