The new console utility looks intriguing!:D

Oh! Somebody noticed :)

Thanks for spreading the word!

Here is a short info of what is new and updated to make it easier for interested folks.

SSE: v0.5.2
A user (actually THE user of SSE who gave me the initial idea to write it) asked me if it would be possible to get and set User Properties in his objects. So far, SSE could only access .properties and execute MAXScript functions to READ (but not write) values like the class of an object etc.
To work around the user's problem, I had to add support for arbitrary user-defined functions that could do about anything, but at the end either return a value or set a value in every object passed by the SSE. So now it is possible to write your own simple functions like SetMyUserProperty and GetMyUserProperty and let SSE call these functions to make any inquiries you want. The exact procedure is described on the homepage and in the header of the latest version.

BFF 0.3.6
A guy came to the Max Support forum with a Max 4 file created with the 30 days demo version. He switched to gMax and wanted someone to convert the file to 3DS so he can keep on working on a course project.
I decided to use BackFromFive instead - the file consisted mostly of primitives and just 3 materials. To my surprise, it DID NOT transfer correctly to gMax 1.1 - all materials were missing. After a short investigation it turned out that the complete material assignment logic has been flawed in all versions of BFF so far and nobody has noticed! (I use BFF daily to move SINGLE objects from 5.1 to 3.1 and it never happened).
The error is now fixed and the Max 4 file was transfered completely to gMax, including all materials, extruded splines and parametric primitives (boxes, cylinders etc.)
PLEASE report any errors you might find in BFF.
I cannot find them all, but I could fix them! ;)

GRIDIFY v0.5
http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs3/gridify/
Not very obvious, but Gridify was fixed and improved for Max 5.x. A user wanted to rewrite it, so I took the time to take a look and fix some problems. Mainly, this version splits based on polygons (it should have always, but it didn't in the latest versions) and has the "Split to Elements" switch I added for the R4.x version but never posted officially.

Finally, the new
CONSOLUS-MAXIMUS v.0.1.7
This was based on discussions of CAD veterans regarding coordinate input in Max. The main strenght is entering splines with absolute, relative, polar and incremental coordinates.
Watch the videos to see what it does.

This is just a first prototype. I am going to add more AutoCAD features like picking points with the mouse (incl. snap) mixed with the relative coordinate input already featured.
The main fun was the "shortcut-like" auto-completion system which works like some mobile phone systems - you type in a letter and you get a whole word! (Btw, I am an ex-Sinclair ZX Spectrum user and had a deja-vue! )

Btw, some more trivia. The name is related to the fact that the Austrian TV showed Gladiator a week ago. Being a very busy man, I first had the time to watch the movie. "CONSOLUS" sounds like "CONSUL" and "MAXIMUS" is probably Latin for 3ds max, and so the name was born. Using a sort of "CAPITALIS-MONUMENTALIS" font (capital letters used on roman monuments), it really looks historical...

Have fun!
