Its on laptop for a start. u know the numbers they have letters on the same button on the actual keyboard. when i press the buttons to get numbers i get the letter. how do i switch back. i tried shutdown restart. its not the number lock key.

Any ideas?

are u sure it's not num lock? i would check to make sure..... remember that in some instances, Win2K and XP (and others) will turn on num lock automatically as soon as Windows boots up.

on most laptops i have seen, to get them to switch back you need to press the FN button and another button that would change those keys back, its a non standard button with a picture of a keypad on it....i think.

It may also be a SHIFT + button combo.

What brand + model laptop is it?

yep, thats the one.

it may be called something else, but its one of the keys that you dont see on a normal keyboard, and its usual where the windows key would be.
