View Full Version : crunching colors for keying

hi there,

I've got a question about keying. In some of the compositing breakdown videos I've watched, I usually see a pass that crunches the background green color to a solid green, getting rid of all the tone diffrences, thus enabling a better pull. I'd love to learn how that's done.

Thanks,

K.

do you have a link to those videos?

Crushing a screen to pull a key is a bad idea. The tone differences which might be in the screen are also in the foreground too. How is a keyer supposed to know the difference between the color value of a faint object in the foreground (like hair, for example) and a slightly green background C-stand? It doesn't, without user help.
