I know this is my first post and all, but I can't really be active on all the forums I register at.
Some of you CG Society hardcorists might shun it's existence, but I decided I'd post about it. To see if any of you were interested.
Recently, a new community was launched that caters to game texture artists worldwide. A place for tutorials, receiving constructive criticism and hosting a friendly environment for all texture artists, novice and professional, young and old.
Dubbed 'The Haven' by enthusiastic communities looking forward to it's initiation, the forum features tutorials, sketchbooks and critiquing forums, all run by award-winning forum software, phpBB 3.0 Olympus. The lack of content is due to it being online since just yesterday, so I'll leave it to you guys - the future community - to fill up the forums. Aspiring texture artists are welcome to join and will be encouraged, critiqued and helped down the road.

But wait, why did you guys need a special forum for texture art? What about the many 3D modeling forums that already have texturing sections?
The justification is simple. It wasn't enough. Often, the section was not only merged with the modeling section itself, but the tutorials section is often limited. What's special about this forum is that it is dedicated to the creation of texture art. This forum has some great material and I've enjoyed reading tutorials, but after asking around on several of the other forums I visit regularly, the feedback demonstrated that such a forum would be welcomed. Sure, most texture artists move onto 3D, but that's not our focus. Modeling and Texturing are worlds apart, and are definitely two different forms of art. Limited support for UV mapping will be allowed, but we don't plan to answer questions about modeling. We'll likely redirect you to a more applicable location, like here..

You'll notice that there isn't very much content at the moment, but understand that it's a very new forum (as opposed to this giant.. I had a hard time even finding this forum), and it's all pretty desolate. If anyone is interested in helping this new community grow, I encourage you to register (http://www.purpledesignstudios.com/textures/ucp.php?mode=register), grab a cup of coffee, post your sketchbook and relax.
