How does one hand paint in photoshop, though?

The reflections in the eyes are a bit much considering there is nothing behind her.

But they also make you wonder where the heck she really is.

I like what you did with the specular in the material on the dress, where the pattern is shinier than the rest of the fabric. Looks great.

The hair looks just a little flat though... Is it painted on the skull mesh?

Fantastic render, but I really feel that the mesh for the girl is exactlly the same object that you have already posted like a dozen of times.
That's my only critic, that it doesn't seems new to me, it's like a different version of your previous images.

My only critique would be the hairline right at the middle/top, there are very fine hairs that are quite distinct but then a smudged darkness that isnt quite convincing when placed together. Other than that she is beautiful, I especially love the lips and clothes (also the eyes, but everyone has commented on them!). Now I will have to see the rest of your work :)

cleavage.. where is the gap between her breasts?
lighting.. is fairly flat overall.. have a look at traditional portrait paintings and photos to get better.. but definitely get some subtle hue variations in there, especially variations of peach and red for her face
imperfection.. she's a little too perfect in symmetry imo.. make one nostral different, etc.. just to break up the mirrored feeling

pls don't take this as a hard crit.. just suggestions from a painter to help with the rendering.. if you're going for human-like realism

Porcelain complexion is equally as attractive as caramel complexion in it's own way.
Some girls with porcelain skin have dark features, IMO, that is the most attractive combination.

That is, assuming your code has no remnants of the neanderthal left in it.
In that case though, you'd have no idea what I'm talking about.

Heh, maybe I'm the first then. I think it looks cool and all, but with an empty scene it might be overdone, however if there would be something in the background (even only a matte painting), the reflections would probably fit. There's nothing wrong with the eyes, only the background to reflect on :)

Why flemish?

Are you trying to emulate the tecnique digitaly in 3d ?
How you pretend to do that ? ...
You knowthat just with color corrections, you dont get the "real flemish efect" ... unless you go step by step multilayering scatering in 3d setuping ... ... ...
The real Flemish is one of the most complete and dificult techniques in the history of oil painting ...
.. would be interesting to see someone try it in 3d ...

But you are still far ...

A tip: you need "to do real Flemish oil painting " of that kind that take more than 4 5 months to each painting xD" ... and do it good and know all steps by steps and lil layering sistems secrets ... in real classic oil painting ...
And there are several layering subsistems ... acording superficies ..
And only with that study you can - then "try" to emulate 3d digitaly ..............

But sory - your images could have the essence of flemish portraiting - but still look flat near the best of traditional flemish oil technique ...

I sujest of you go to museans and reaaly study deep the best worldwide flemishs ... to be able to then Setup it in 3d ....

RUBYWORKS, hum I guess you didnt get what I mean. I was talking about a creation process. I mean I started this picture with the aim of making a portrait looking like the Petrus Christus or Francois Clouet ones (flemish/french painters of the XV and XVIth centuries ). Then I got something which was actually not that great so I modified the lighting, the face, shaders and got what you can see now. So that was just my start point not what I got. Oh and I'd never have the pretention to say my work compares to those from femish master painters...

love the silvery touch it has, i had to look real close and hard to come up with this insignificant crit, donno why but the bottom lid cuts the pupil to cleanly, and the hairs on the sides close to the brows look a little to perfect... i dont care how well groomed she is lol... but dont listen to me, just have to look at my 3d to figure that out.. i dont think i will ever have the patience to take something to this level..

I want to see this girl talking, walking moving her head around. ANIMATE HER!! ("animate" being a terrible term for such a beautiful model) is that a skill for someone else? Add a female voice with some almost insignificant digital effect and she'll be incredible. It would be cool if this site had a section for 3d sequences and stuff so it's not just stills that are being rated but the overall "life" of the character. That would be amazing, especially for this model.
