Well, I guess I put this in the wrong forum the first time. Sorry for the re-post...

Is there a way (in Max 2008) to save vertex weights and load them back in? I've rigged and weighted the model, then found a small problem in the mesh that needs correcting. I would really rather not re-weight this complex model if possible, particularly because some of it's animations are already in-game.

I know there is the SkinOrDie script, but it's pretty complicated and I couldn't even figure out how to make that work for me. Saving weights in easy in Maya, isn't it? I figured there would be an easy way in Max as well.

I've not gotten a chance to use max 2008 yet, but I assume it's the same as max 9

Open up the parameters for the skin modifier, and click the + next to "Advanced Parameters" Then you should see save and load buttons. Click save to output the skin weights to a file. Then delete the skin modifier and reapply it and re-add the bones, now load the skin weights and you should be good to go =)
