Thanks Kai, yup just XL, no BP, just haven't got the money for it after all :) But I got some tricks up my sleeve anyway :D. Here's the color tests:

eh ? . . . oh what the hell . . . . . BUMP :)
I'll those image maps (no spec on hands for example) done if it's the last thing I do :) but in the meantime, any comments on color ? Recomendations for a more dynamic color sceme ? I'm going for a more stylisic approach with the shadows all colored etc. -anyone read the Shrek article in Cinefex ?
But I know detail detail detail . . I'm working :D

Finally had the time to scrounge around a bit for his face, looks pretty scary already, but I'll show the WIP of the map first.
Figure I can get some crits on my techniques as I go along, instead of just overall critiques :)

hey update again, Done a quick painting w/ mouse for final lighting/colors (not detail) More or less just to practice, and get some coloring done before going back to the map whhops, might want to turn your brightness down a bit, PS is good gamma, but my PC is crap :thumbsdow

Keeping that last post in mind, here's the final textured version, NO lighting yet, no shadows etc. should look a bit like previous post when I'm done.

I hope that something can be corrected :) I'm certainly no pro in texturing so if you need help goto the Leah thread! I've sure learned quite a bit since the beginning of this challenge, wish more had participated !!

love the painterly look of your render. Partly dues to the painted textures, but I wouldn't mind finding out what else you did to get the look. NPR is my sorta focus right noew in 3D. we sould talk techniques sometime. well the feet arre done just sweeping down the floor now will post in a second.

Thanks Kai, actually not that much, a lot of falloff maps etc. to get that sort of feeling. I'd love to talk techniques (chances are I'd be one to learn a bit more ;)) I really hate harsh CG. I think a bit also has to due withthe stylistic lighting as opposed to realisitic GI. Of course your right about the undetailed textures- not much time and I wanted to finish, so some areas were left a little primitive :)
Thanks for the reply,

did you see anything on my GI painting technique at the bhodinut forum? Still realy in the works stage but I plan on doing a test with a less detailed textured version of Martin's tiger. basically the effect isn't quite consistent yet but I am getting some nice painterly stokes with it, mixed with your style here could get a really nice effect. problem is everytime I stop playing with the technique I slowly start to forget how I did the last one.

Yeah I remember that first post on the Postforum :) Have you figured out what it is caused by and/or how to keep it smooth in animation? Having such a filter controlable would be really great!
Write down the technique and keep a quick txt log :)

no, I know what causes it, and I don't have a clue as to how I can possibly keep itfrom looking like water reflections or however you'd describe it. I think the method is going to have to be a purley still image technique. Maybe when I have some time I'll compile some of the sample tests and a small text file or pdf and get other people to play around with it. and to think it all started with a brainless mistake. of course so did the stuff in SOC and that has done fairly well:bounce:
anyways we are geting off topic have a beer and relax or get to work on some forest thing.
