Most people use either photoshop or painter for creating 2d digital work. Hope that helps....if you need more info, try running some searches, most beginner questions have been answered a bunch of times:D

there are no stupid questions just stupid answers.
there are two different type of tablets that i know of wacom and aiptek.
wacom is far better, it has better pressure sensitivity, but it costs more.
you pay more for the quality. the more exspensive wacoms are bigger and better with better capabilities.
even the graphire2 is good although you standard wacom. it's good for beginers.
go to the wacom site and take a look around.
as for applications to use with it, i use photoshop the most with it, but you can configure it so you can use it with about anything.

Painter8 was just released and has a free demo version out...you might want to test it out. As for which one is better...I don't think anyone can answer that for you. They're just different. Both have some great features. I tend to use photoshop more than painter, but not really for any specific reason.
