hmmm...... not sure whether i'm going to take part in this challenge or not. but i'm definately sure i'm going to texure him.
:)
problem is, i'm working on some renderings now. have no machines that i can use for working on this for a week. and honestly, i'm quite tired in the previous challenge. haha.... i might need more time to rest 1st.

K'mon! Ur character is so amazing!U must be into the arena this month too!;)
It'll be a shame if we won't see textured renders of this one during this month.
do go on..

Kick ass character! Hope you can texture him. But man do you have a simpler mesh? Looks like it's gonna be a pain in the butt to texture him as is. All those veins, and tiny mesh details. I would think, that you would have an easier time, and more fun, if it was a little simplified in the small details.

Thought i'd chip in here, and say I remeber a time when KFC told me he didn't think he was ever good enough to enter into a competition!!!
In any case, great work. BTW, I haven't seen you on Dalnet lately KFC, should hook something up sometime.

the model (as i've said before), is utterly gorgeous...i think this challenge is a little lame but i would definitely look forward to seeing your character textured
hmmm.... sounds like i've got some supporter here.
maybe i should start texturing it. but anyway, i'm having a hard time on editing it's UV. maybe i'm going to try out the DeepUV demo. but is it good? i'm already used to Maya's UV editor.
TheWriter: i'm always in dalnet. maybe we are just online at different time.
windarr: thanks dude. well... i knew my character is a little complex. but i've already tried my best on keeping it as simple as possible and at the same time got to achieve the look as close to my sketch. have u seen my sketch? go here.

-OZ-: since u want me in. I'm in. but u don't stop too. I like ur work alot.
Erol: Ashame.... yeah. I can't forgive myself if this model is not textured.
edaddy: thanks, I won't let u down. I'll try my best to complete it. but still, time is very limited (not the deadline of this competition, i mean my life).
for this model. I'm trying to create the kinda skin which looks like creatures from ILM creation. abit like the kinda skin of the dragon in dragon heart. with a very similar shade and color to it.
as for the details of pores and bumps or might be some displacements, i'm going to try to do it by using renderman. i'm still learning it and i've found out that it's really good for highrez prints.
good luck to everyone.

Nice sketch. You have confident looking lines. You translated it to 3d very well. The only reason I made a comment about the veins is because you could use bump maps to simulate them without losing much impact if any, and make the texturing process a little simpler. However that would require redoing some of the model.
Good luck.

KFC, Yea, I know what you mean about the challenges. I hit the Feb challenge extremely hard and so I was virtually non-existent in the March. Now I am refreshed and ready to push hard for the April. It's difficult to kill yourself back to back. Regardless, you have an awesome model so it will be nice to see any progress you could make texturing your guy. Give it a shot but get some sleep too! :buttrock:

Now you know why most contests give at least 2 months before they turn over the next round :)

You have to texture that. Not necessarily for this challenge, but it beggs to be textured.
It's as near perfect as it can be now, and textures would turn it into something outstanding. Provided the textures are good of course ;)
In short, please texture at your leisure!
*edit: insane modeling with the viens and folds. Impressive
I'm back.
took me quite alot of time on my work b4 i can start on this again.

Hoo-ha! :scream: Glad you made it back to it..really nice. The head/face especially so far, that just rocks. The mottled skin patterns really add to that other-everything-ness.
Hope you have time to finish! go! go!
Oh~!
Hiko~! thanks.
:)
hypercube : thanks too. I'm working on the eye texture now.

Don't like the headpiece, and the teeth could use some yellowing...but that's some sweet work.
