Guessing (from reading on AE Adobe forum) that you recently upgraded to QT 7.4. Assuming you're a mac user, some said the only way to go back to an earlier QT version required reinstalling your OS (now THAT should be an apple/pc commercial lol).
Someone else mentioned that you could render to an image sequence, and then import and render out a movie from QT pro.

Wow. I'm glad I read this thread! I was just getting ready to upgrade tonight!!!
Does this happen when you're trying to output a Quicktime movie? Any particular settings that causes this to happen?
A link to that thread would be great (I can't find it myself... but I'm probably looking on the wrong forum).

Have been able to downgrade to QT 7.3 using Pacifist. Did NOT require re-install of OS.

Now that I am back to QT7.3, iTunes7.6 is now asking me to update QT to 7.4 in order to be able to view the new movie rental feature of the iTunes store... which sorta sheds some light on the no permission error. Now that iTunes is renting, not just selling, movies, QT is now all fussy about ownership and permissions. Just a guess.

Has anyone tried yet QT 7.4.1?
Friend of mine reports that AFX is rendering past the 10 min border....
...anyone else tried it?
This problem is solved, at least I already check the verify this link...

Let's just say the problem has been patched, not solved. I think it's safe to say installation of 7.4.1 should be held off until we hear some feedback from people who have tested it in production.
Incidently, there is pretty much no reason to upgrade from 7.3 if you're just using it for AE and such.
