Title: The Behemoth
Name: Arnaud Lublink
Country: Netherlands
Software: Maya, Photoshop, Vue, ZBrush

I made this for the gnomon contest which was in November 2007!

First time I ever I used many software for 1 image:
Maya, Zbrush, Vue and Photoshop.
I learned allot from these programes, first time I used Vue and I made a compleet character in Zbrush.

I had many problems with Zbrush with exporting texture and UV map to Maya.

Beside all that hard work for 1 image I'm happy with the result and hope people enjoy watching this image!

(C&C) Comments and Critiques are welcome with open arms!

I'm glad you enjoyed working on it. Good overall work for learning, perhaps some more ambient light, less contrast between bright/dark, and more unique features on the green guy. :)

Also, for the guy's skin, try some mentral ray shaders (Maya and Max include Mental Ray) to add more visual detail, as right now it's basically just all specular, and not much interactivity with the surrounding light. ;)

For example, from Over the Hedge (Dreamworks), using some sub-surface-scattering, and other shader parameters, the turtle looks more "alive."

Hey MrJonathan!
Thnx for your comment!
I know normaly I din't want to gife that guy that skin, but I coun't find the way to import shaders from maya to Vue ^^ sound silly I know :hmm:

I rendered in Vue, I'm still with that programme, no idea if I can bring maya obj to Vue and export the sky/environment to back to maya and render with it?

Thnx again ;)

Well, if you just do the rendering with Mental Ray in Maya, you can save that step. Vue is good, but for learning, sticking with fewer programs will help you learn quicker. :)
