hi

Is there a way to open up the geometry of an object so that its flattened.
pretty much what a UV map looks like but actually having the polys in a 3d space.

Do the UV layout first, then use this old plugin called UVtoObject
>> http://www.welter-4d.de/fplugs/freeplugins_en.html << (scroll all the way down on that page).

Assuming it still works in current Cinema versions, it will give you a (flat) polygon object based on the UV-coordinates.

Thanks JamesMK, I also need that operation, After some experiments I figured out that the Object must be editable and has a UVW Tag.

If I were you ckkhoury, I would use the paint setup wizzard.
