Since there seem to be a few robot lovers here I thought I'd post this link to Doug' Chiang's site.
Doug Chiang was the art director for the last 2 Star Wars prequels. He was responsible for the design of most of the vehicles and droids seen in Episodes 1 and 2. He's since gone on to art direct the last 2 Matrix films and he's working on his own project called ROBOTA.
The first link below is to his virtual movie trailers. Make sure you click on the Animation test (3rd column) as well as it showcases a cool robot design and its 3d animation test.

He's got a cool Tips and tricks page too for those interested in marker techniques as well.
