i like 1 2 and 4, the lines kinda makes it hard to read for the other ones.

Go with the first one or the second one dude, it's professionally clean.

Ah Progressive! Gotta check this band out.. I just recently saw Dream Theater LIVE in copenhagen!

aw man, i can't wait to see dt live, but it will probably take me a while..
anyway, you can check 2 of their songs at www.morpheus.up.co.il
its from a live concert they played..
anyway, thanks everyone for the responses... though i didn't get a very clear view as to what people think :\

Opeth is a good band =)

I like the 1st one the better. its kinda simplier (in a good way), and it is more sticky than the others.

Number 1 will last the longest. What I mean is for a logo to be successful it has to first of all be legible and second it must be unique. The first I believe is the one that best suits those qualities. Like CGMonkey said, its "professionaly clean"

Textures and stuff are good when they suit with an album cover for example. meanwhile keep it simple, and if posible, with the least colors used.

You wont imagine the paint in the arse is when you print something textured in serigraphy rather than offset because of costs.

I think that they are all pretty easy to read as far as band logos go. I think you can get away with a few artistic oddities that might not be suited for a corporate logo. So my suggestion is to go with #5 but include the Celtic cross design through the "O" in #4.

I like #5's design the best because it looks like it's from some sort of ancient civilization of Russian decent. It just has more character and a sense of history than the other designs. Almost Gothic in design.

I think you could still add much to the design to further emphasize the old-world style.

Hmm... Stick with number one or two...
