I created this in around 16 hours.

What renderer did you use?

The wood panel texture on the sides of the stairs looks a bit blurry, maybe a little stretched. As fas as compositionaly, the only prominent shadows visible are the chairs and the table, and the shadows look off in their consistency. One thing for sure that would help alot is doing an occlusion pass. Tweak your shadows a bit more, and maybe move the light source?

Looking pretty good, keep it up.

Thx for mentioning the side panels, much appreciated.

I rendered it in Maya Software.

I have tweaked some objects, lighting and shadows.

I`ll have to learn more about lighting, will go and buy some tutorials or study photographs.

Thanks!

Updated image.

Pretty good job for your first environment. Check the Maya Rendering forum here on CGtalk to take this to the next level in terms of lighting and shading.

hello modernprimitive i will have a look at the maya forum, thx for the suggestion.

ginsun will do!

frebell, well the reason why i have used maya software is the blury effect you get on it.
Mental ray is to sharp. to crispy.

@arrigod thx very much :)

Mental Ray will give you a much better render especially if you use GI or Final Gather and the architectural shader.

You can contorl the "bluriness" by adjusting the anti-aliasing settings.
