Title: CME VX8
Name: Bachtiar Yakushov
Country: Australia
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop, VRay
This is studio style vis of a CME VX8 Keyboard. Modeled in Max with polys, lit with VRay and a Paul Debevec HDRI (in the reflection channel). This was my first test with the VRay Physical Camera, and I have to say so far it seems pretty promising. I also thought I'd get a little wacky with camera angles and distortions ;). As far as post is concerned I made a slight adjustment to the saturation of the keys and left the rest as it was in the render. Enjoy! C & C more than welcome. :)
Cheers

Very nice model first of all :)
The render is excellent also, but I think maybe if you lowered the saturation of the red a bit, it'd prove to be more photoreal than it is right now.
I bought the CME UF80 a month or so ago but sent it back, due to the feel of the keys not being how I wanted them to be (I was looking for a more piano feel) as the keys on the CME seemed to bounce a bit too much while playing. I found what I was looking for in a Yamaha digi piano, but for a controller, the CME series are okay

You've made a nice model there, very true to the original, though I'll have to agree with Kage06's comment about the saturation. Maybe darken it just a bit too and it'll be flawless.
That's a nice controller, I was thinking of buying it once but I wanted a full 88-key. It's near impossible finding a good stage-piano that doubles as a comphrensive controller! VX8 came close though. I'm thinking of settling with the Prokeys88 and Axiom 61 from M-Audio.

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate the comments regarding saturation/darkness, as the saturation issue kinda slipped past me on this one as I got into the Physical Camera so much o.O.
Here's a quickly modified version.

Yeah, thats a bit better :)
Looking on the Internet, it is that sort of red, but it looks better without it being blown out as in the new picture.

Yeah, the real colour is a bit of a poke-your-eyes-out red :P.

Hello Bachtiar,
Great modelling on this keyboard..personally i think the device deserves a nice studio set-up render together with the Korg :)
Do you have more synths with nice knobs, sliders and lights coming up? The Nord Lead 2 X has a real stunning design..
Keep them coming!

Hey Suurbekje, no more keyboards coming up soon but thanks for the idea regarding the Nord Lead. I went and had a look at it after you suggested it, hopefully I'll do it in future (for a realism test) but atm I have too much on my plate to get a jump on it :). Cheers!
